What is the best axe throwing axe?
The most important thing is personal preference. There are several key factors. Sharp enough to penetrate the target surface, but not so sharp that it dulls from hitting the target, easy to use, you can throw it hundreds of times in practice, it needs to be light enough so you can reach the target, heavy enough in order to retain enough energy to stick in the target without rebounding or falling off after sticking.

When throwing an axe, pay attention to distance and aiming.
1. The ideal target is a log with a cross-section of about 14 inches wide and about 6 inches thick, on a stable stand.
2. With the correct throwing distance, the axe can just focus its head on the target and stay on the target. To find the correct throw distance, you can start throwing from about 12 feet.
3. During overhand throwing: If the above situation occurs, please adjust the distance accordingly
(1) The axe and its center of gravity form a line perpendicular to the target surface - keep your position. The throw distance is correct.
(2) The axe points down when it hits the target - get close to prevent the axe from over-spinning.
(3) The axe faces up when it hits the target - move it backwards to rotate the axe a few more degrees.
This is the exact opposite of a hand axe throw.
Move half a foot at a time until you can make the axe stick.

How does axe throwing work?
First of all, during the movement of the axe, the main force is concentrated in the head. When you throw the axe, it turns/spins naturally. How fast it turns, and how far each turn, depends on the length of the handle and the amount of spin (if any) you add when you release it. The shorter handle turns faster and travels a shorter distance per turn. The longer handle turns slower and travels longer per turn. If it's sharp enough, you want it to hit with a blade or tip. If it isn't turned enough, or too much, the handle/top or back of the head will hit, not the edge.
So you adjust the distance from the target to match your axe turn/rotation so that the edge or point sticks. Or you adjust your release to make the axe turn/spin faster/shorter to match the distance you're at. These calculations are added to how hard you throw it and how high you have to throw it to compensate for how much it drops on the way to the target after you let it go.
